The German National Tourist Board (GNTB) has launched a walk-through, interactive, highly immersive and accessible virtual reality world on Germany’s natural landscapes for the Germany Travel Mart 2022.
Based on the Meta Quest 2 VR glasses, the GNTB is making full use of the possibilities of these self-sufficient glasses and presenting different “experiences” to inspire guests with the beauty and diversity of the German natural landscapes with all their senses and lots of interaction.
The Experience has different thematic levels: Information, Action, Relaxation
In addition to the impressive presentation of the German Natural Landscapes via a state-of-the-art interactive VR medium, this project is also about learning processes.
The project aims to gain important insights and share them with partners from the German tourism sector.
The VR application was developed barrier-free from the beginning. It can be used without any problems by people with limited mobility.

The current academisation of midwifery training brings new challenges. If in the future midwives will only be trained through academic Bachelor and Master programmes, the practical component will remain highly relevant. The Heb@AR app is an innovative handheld augmented reality (AR) training application to support the practical training sessions in midwifery studies. It is currently being used for self-directed and on-site curricular learning in several midwifery degree programmes in Germany. The aim is to strengthen the practical skills of the students, especially in emergency situations. The Heb@AR app is available free of charge via app stores on popular Android & iOS smartphones and currently offers five midwifery-specific training scenarios and supplementary open-source material for their use. The app includes both on-site AR SkillsLab trainings and Training@Home trainings for self-study time.
The VR Experience gives the player the opportunity to experience the world of “Mnemonic” for themselves. The goal is to complete all the broken sunstones, unlock the hidden memories of the past world and ultimately change the present.
The premise of the world is: after the destruction of the sun, the world became a cold and dark place. A creature desperately clings to a chunk of the sun, which still provides some light.
This is a PC VR experience and is playable with most headsets.

We have prepared a mind altering experience that will demonstrate how we can extend a playspace with no teleportation or stick movement. You will explore a space naturally and it is probable your mind will be blown open like a cantaloupe (metaphorically).
Let’s go to the “Golden Twenties”. When you enter the TimeRide “Cologne 1926” shop, which is designed in the style of the 1920s, you are transported into a bygone world. The unique concept with a coherent storyline links the real world with virtual reality in 3 experience rooms. The cinema is an introduction to the story with original film material. The hat factory, illustrates traditional crafts & introduces the protagonist. The historic tram -, an original replica – takes you on a ride in VR through the streets of Cologne circa 1926 & transports the precious cargo, a carnival hat, to its destination. The 30 seats are played live by powerful computers with the Unreal 4 Engine. The precisely tuned airstream & matching vibrations deepen the immersion. Outstanding is the linking of the storyline and detailed backdrops with original locations of German history & state-of-the-art VR technology.

Everyday Vrealities is a virtual reality documentary about different kinds of families, homes and ways of life. The viewer can, using their VR-headset, walk freely around from home to home, and witness everyday scenes happening in front of them.
The film consist of nine homes, each linked to another. The viewer can witness a father playing games with his daughter, a couple doing yoga, a mother helping her son do his homework, an elderly mother teaching her daughter how to make pottery, a kid doing somersaults, a family with their newborn etc. The viewer can also re-enter some of the rooms to see new scenes.
In the film there are no interviews or backstories. It is not a film of big emotions, but more of reflections and observation. It is in a sense “slow tv”, with seemingly nothing much happening. We can using the free movement in the space to quietly observe an everyday event unfolding, and even revisit it later if we want. The combined length of all clips is around 50 minutes.
Kölsch-Pong brings the well-known party game “Beerpong” to your smartphone in a Cologne way. With the help of augmented reality, a mini-game opens up in the YONA app in which you can compete against each other in Kölsch Pong. Against each other, because at the end there is a global leaderboard on which you can compare yourself with other pub athletes. The 90s look in Gameboy style provides an extra dose of nostalgia while playing. And the special thing for all Cologne residents: The game is played on a Kölsch wreath, which is famous for the cathedral city. The aim is to hit the glasses with crown caps as quickly and with as few attempts as possible and thus fill the entire wreath with beer. The personal high score is then saved and can be entered on the global leaderboard.
The game was developed in cooperation with the Cologne Instagram page @koelnistkool and will be released in the course of a Cologne pub event at the end of September 2022.
